“One can choose to go back toward safety or forward toward growth. Growth must be chosen again and again; fear must be overcome again and again.” - Abraham H. Maslow
What is life without health?
Life without health is non-existent. When the word “health” is thrown into the conversation many people directly think going to see a doctor, however health begins with 3 simple basic human needs:
➡️ food
➡️ water
➡️ shelter
Without fulfilling the physiological needs of food, water, and shelter, we cannot focus on any additional needs (i.e. Maslow Hierarchy) to strive and motivate ourselves for more. Additional needs could be anywhere from the lifestyle we live to our dream job or even our love life and family.
We must feed our souls one way or another. To add more to our life, we must begin with setting a goal. We push ourselves through our motivation and can achieve what we put our minds to. Life can become busy, however stepping back and breathing can help us refocus and concentrate on the life we want for ourselves.
In today’s health revolution, there are several health professionals who specialize in different areas allowing people to care for themselves throughout their life rather than caring for themselves when their health hits the fan and quick solutions need to be escalated to repair life decisions.
This is how the healthcare system was built. Care would be provided only when something in our life was wrong or not going according to plan. The healthcare professionals today have worked towards building the healthcare gap by specializing in preventative health to care for our bodies early on to lead to a longer and better life.
The healthcare system is not wrong, it is still needed however it focuses on the time of incident and temporary, quick care. Whereas integrative care focuses on preventative, holistic care.
Many health professionals concentrate on specific areas to help improve people, their life, and the health of the world.
Besides doctors, there are integrative specialists, yoga instructors, personal trainers (CPT), health coaches (CHWC), neuro-linguistic programming (NLP) practitioners, and many more. There are several areas of health in today’s world which play roles over your entire life.
We all play a part in closing the gap by educating, guiding, discovering, and helping people become aware of new possibilities. We are able to focus on actions that lead to a healthier lifestyle through spreading knowledge and sharing experiences.
Building a bridge to close the gap in healthcare concentrates on finding what works and doesn’t. Spreading awareness helps to share valuable information that can get you from point A to point B quicker by walking across the bridge rather than climbing a mountain on your own starting at the beginning. Starting from the ground and moving up typically means researching and looking for what works and/or doesn’t throughout each question to find your best conclusion.
We as healthcare professionals, we look for ways to get people from point A to point B through successful paths to improve their health and improve longevity to continue living the life the world desires.
